EMERGE Coaching Framework / Model

The EMERGE coaching model (Noble, 2022) places motivation and energy at the center of achieving meaningful goals and outcomes.

At its core, coaching is about change. For change to be successful, the client must recognise the need for it and feel motivated to act. Without intrinsic motivation, the internal drive that compels a person to act and momentum can fade over time. Any change process requires internal energy to move forward and sustain progress.

Why EMERGE Matters

To fully embrace EMERGE, it is important to understand not only what each stage does, but why each stage is essential. Each phase supports the coaching conversation in a different way, helping to build clarity, commitment, and forward movement.

How EMERGE Is Used in Practice

EMERGE is not a rigid or linear model. Coaches can move to the stage that feels most appropriate as the conversation unfolds.

That said, experience shows that coaching conversations are most effective when they:

  • Begin with Expectations, and

  • Conclude with Evaluate

This structure helps create clarity at the outset and reflection at the close.
